  •  All courses held on our private road at Oran Park near Narellan (now only 35 minutes from Parramatta via M7) which replicates real-life roads with hills and curves. A sprinkler system is used to create a true representation of a wet road...not an artificial 'skid pan'.
  • Students use their own vehicles. Cars, station wagons, utes, 4WDs, light trucks and vans are acceptable.
  • All licenced drivers will benefit from this course. We are licenced to train holders 'P' licences. “L” Permit holders not accepted.

Nationwide Defensive Driving School is the continuation of the original Peter Wherrett Advanced Driving School, the pioneer of Advanced Driving Courses in Australia. The commencement of PWAD in 1969 predates all other schools by at least 10 years.

Nationwide was formed in 1980 when Peter and Gaye Finlay purchased the Wherrett interests and continued to develop the program to achieve the highest possible professional standards of excellence.

With an instructor:pupil ratio of 1:5, Peter Finlay’s Car Control course is a unique program where, unlike emulators, the entertaining format develops a strong rapport between your personal trainer and you. Learner drivers who have at least 30 hours experience in their log book may attend. Attentance will give you credit for five hours practical driving. Learners will only be accompanied by RTA licenced instructors.

Only on our Car Control course will you spend quality time in your car with your instructor. Your progress will be scored and you will receive a full evaluation of your performance on the course. This will be accompanied by a graduation certificate.

The Car Control course program meets the strict guidelines set by NRMA Insurance for vehicle cover on advanced driving courses. If you are insured with NRMA check to ensure that the program you select is acceptable to the NRMA.
