Asked Questions - Racing and Rally Drivers' Course
What are the requirements for this course?
You need to hold a current drivers' licence. You will need to
wear appropriate clothing to cover your body extremities (arms and legs),
a race approved helmet and gloves.
(If
you are going for your CAMS race or International Rally licence you need
to pass a CAMS approved doctor's examination to say you are fit to race,
and fill in the application form.) This need not be done prior to
attending the course.
Where are the courses held?
We use dedicated race tracks, mainly Oran Park and Wakefield
Park Raceways.
Is this course approved by CAMS?
Yes, and the course includes
the compulsory CAMS circuit racing
licence lecture.
What car will I drive?
You supply your own manual transmission car for both
days. It
must have a least two seats and safety belts.
Does this course include the CAMS
Observed Licence Test for racing and rallying?
Yes, this test is accepted
by CAMS in lieu of the alternative 'OLTs' as defined in the licence
application forms.
Do I need to bring a helmet?
You will need a suitable helmet and gloves for the second day's
activities.
(We can supply a loan helmet and gloves if necessary).
Do I need to have previous race
track experience?
No, the programme assumes no previous experience and is structured to
increase your skill level.
How much is the Race Drivers'
course?
The fee is $680 including
GST.
