Racing Drivers Course
As with most sports and activities the most difficult part is finding out how to become involved. Our aim is to guide you every step of the way. First, you need to find out if you can drive well enough to compete and if you really do want to go further. Our 1 day Racing Drivers’ course offers you 8 hours of very intensive instruction. You will be guided through all the aspects of race driver techniques, including heel/ toe gear changing, chassis balance, controlling understeer & oversteer & some very important visual techniques to help you kick off in the right direction with your on track driving. Either before or after the course you will need to apply to the state office of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport Ltd (CAMS) for your racing or rally license. Two forms need to be completed; the first is a medical examination by a CAMS appointed doctor to certify that you are fit to take part in competition (Racing and R5 License applicants only). The second is the application form. You will need to become a member of a CAMS affiliated Car Club. The Racing course includes the 'Observed License Test' for both PC (Racing) and CR/NRJ/IR (Rally) license applicants. This course is acceptable to CAMS in lieu of the alternative 'OLTs' as defined in the license application forms. The courses are held at Wakefield Park near Goulburn, South of Sydney. You will need to supply your own car for this course. The car must have at least two seats (with safety belts) and have a normal manual transmission. We can supply suits boots and helmets, but is preferred if you have your own. The price for the course is $385.00 per person incl GST.The Wakefield Park track hire for your car is $110.00. A Wakefield Park license is $50.00 which is valid for 12 months. And we suggest a night’s accommodation the night before at the Wakefield Park Villas which are at the track for $60.00 per person per night. |
